Artist Statement

I work with fiber because it is an personal, although often unacknowledged part of our lives. Textiles cross cultures and connect us to the past. They appeal to our senses, inviting touch and spanning the gap that separates art and the ordinary. I find that fabric and thread speak directly to and about domestic, and also about the history of women, issues that I often explore in my work. Each piece that I create is intended as a contemporary work of art and a permanent contribution to our history of cloth.
