Unique jewelry crafted from various materials

Artist Statement

What inspires me? This is a question that people often ask me when they view my jewelry. Lots of things inspire me, like colors, shapes, textures, my cats, nature, birds, stars, flowers, and especially the ocean. Lately I've been experimenting with sea glass. I enjoy combing the beaches in the Boston area and Maine, looking for unusual shapes and colors of sea glass. I collect tiny glass fragments which I use to make mosaic earrings. You can't look at these earrings without thinking of the beach and the sound of the waves! I also enjoy making my unique wire crochet necklaces. I string beads on thin sterling silver wire, then start a basic crochet stitch, incorporating the beads into the loops as I go. They are fun to make and I never know exactly what the finished produce will look like. Sometimes the shape and weight of the beads take on a life of their own. I don't sketch anything, but I usually have a basic idea of what I want to make with certain materials. The creative process does not follow logic. Sometimes I just start and the process will evolve as I work. Much of the jewelry I make is very colorful and I tend to favor the ocean colors - blues, aquas, light greens. I also love things that sparkle so I work with Swarovski crystals for much of my work. Whether it's earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, I hope you will enjoy wearing my jewelry or giving it as a gift!
