![]() Joey Hamill Biography Growing up in North Quincy with my sisters and brother, I was always busy collecting snakes and salamanders, and polliwogs to feed my turtle. I didn’t know then that I liked to draw, but now I draw instead of collecting. I majored in Government in college, and work on the budgets for the VA hospitals. Along the way we had five children, most of whom live near me now. I have lots of playtime with grandchildren, and am a volunteer ESL tutor for adults, and a homework tutor for children, at the West Medford Community Center and the Brooks school. I’ m happy to have a found a new life here by the river, these last nine years, after twenty five years in Scituate raising a family by the ocean. I’ve taken art classes many places and still have lots more to learn. Statement Watercolor, pastel, photography, and drawing all give me a way of describing the world I see around me. People, places, things, happenings and the feelings they generate as I look around me, make me want to make a record of them somehow. Lately I’ve been attempting portrait painting. I’ve taken classes many places, and learn from each one. So I continue.
