Loren and Deanne Wherry

Loren and Deanne Wherry

Biography

Loren and Deanne are a mother/ daughter team living in West Medford for almost 4 years. Loren (11 ½) has been an artist for several years working with a wide variety of materials.  Loren attends Middle School at St. Raphael’s School and Deanne works in the healthcare industry and is also a violinist with the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra.  The Wherrys enjoy viewing and collecting art and are excited to participate in WMOS this year.

Statement

Loren and Deanne had a vision to start using components from their own recycling bin to create collage centerpieces for jewelry.  They collect pieces of paper and cardboard with visual appeal then de-construct them, only to re-construct them when they are working on a particular beaded necklace.  They create bold, fun pieces that can be worn with jeans and T shirts or for dressier occasions.  They are excited to continue expanding their work and enjoy being creative with items that would otherwise be recycled.  The most enjoyable part is asking people to figure out what the centerpiece was made from.
