About the Artist

Joan Green and Bobby Brown (GreenBrownArt) moved to Western Mass after many years of art-making and life in Cambridge. They share a passion for creating and a strong connection with the natural world. Bobby draws on his African heritage to create masks that often include found objects and natural materials. His work includes hand-worked wooden blocks and mixed media pieces. Joan's career as a dancer informs much of her painting and the mixed media pieces she creates. She will be showing small mixed media pieces and giclee prints. Joan and Bobby have shown their work together (a joint exhibit at the Multicultural Arts Center, Cambridge among others) and separately. Joan was awarded a Juror's Choice Award at the 2023 National Prize Show of the Cambridge Art Association and was a featured artist in a 5-person exhibit last summer at the Becket Arts Center, Becket MA. They are currently preparing for a 3-person exhibit (with painter Whitney Robbins) at the Leverett Craft and Arts Center for the month of April, 2025. Bobby is a self-taught artist. Joan studied art in a number of places. They love the way working together in close proximity expands the possibilities for each of them.
