About the Artist
Terry E. Carter is a gifted writer and speaker. He was born and raised in Medford and educated in the Medford Public Schools. He is a classically-trained poet whose literary influences range from Shakespeare to the Harlem Renaissance. Terry is a husband, a father, and an ordained minister. He enjoys taking contemporary life and faith experiences and translating them into word pictures that engage people in a truly unique way. He has published six volumes of dynamic, inspired poetry, including his most recent book, Brown Skin and the Brilliant Sun: A Poet’s Opus, which was released in the fall of 2023. He also recently released his first jazz/poetry CD, along with pianist-composer Jonathan Fagan, drummer John Dalton, and bassist Greg Toro under the name of The Ally Project (2024). Terry directs Elder Services and manages special arts programming at the historic West Medford Community Center.
