About the Artist

David Chia has read his short stories and essays at WMOS since 2001. David currently leads the writers' group at the Medford Public Library. His work has been published in several editions of the Doc Kountze Annual. David has also received writing grants from the Medford Arts Council.

David is a board member of the Cambridge Chamber Singers. He is also a trustee for the Medford Public Library. In 2015 and 2022, he was assistant curator for "Lines Connecting Lines," a Malden exhibit of poems paired with paintings. He is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts.

David has written grants for the Pine Street Inn. David has a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from Yale University and a S.M. in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a reporter and senior editor for the Yale Daily News and an opinion writer for The Tech, MIT's student newspaper.

Words are small but powerful entities. I try to make sure each of my words say what I want it to say. I am interested in the details of everyday life of ordinary and not so ordinary people. A listener has said that there is "always an enjoyable wistfulness" to my stories. I think that was a compliment.
